To help facility managers at Incheon National University locate assets and meet maintenance needs, Ko-Mapper initiated a 3D modeling project of campus buildings and surrounding outdoor areas. With more than 1,000 buildings and structures, as well as numerous assets included in each facility, the project presented data capture and integration challenges. They sought advanced reality capture and modeling technology to integrate images, point clouds, and geospatial data into an accurate reality mesh.
They selected ContextCapture to process data captured from laser scanning, drones, and LiDAR, and reverse engineered the multi-floor campus buildings and exterior site. Then, they generated a detailed, accurate, integrated virtual model that campus facilities managers use to visualize the exact location for work orders, reducing response time and improving quality. The digitalized inspectioneering solution enables more precise repair and maintenance planning and more informed decision-making. It also provides the basis for multisourced, BIM-based reverse engineering on large campus structures and cultural assets.
