Shanghai Investigation, Design & Research Institute explored the application of digital twin technology for China Three Gorges Renewables Group through a pilot project that will enable smart offshore wind power operations. They wanted to build a BIM model for the entire plant, integrate construction data to form as-built assets, and develop an offshore wind power digital twin platform. However, they faced data management and integration challenges when designing application scenarios for the lifecycle digital twin and needed an open digital platform to visualize and support the models for intelligent wind power facility management.
The team selected Bentley’s iModel are now iTwin applications. iTwin applications, improving modeling efficiencies by 30% and reducing resource hours by 10%. Using the open digital twin platform, they optimized the management of virtual wind power assets, integrating construction and operations data to achieve intelligent plant management. The pilot results serve as a reference for future application and digital transformation in the offshore wind power industry.
