Taiwan Electric Power Company initiated construction of a USD 134 million pumping room at the Taichung Power Plant. Kung Sing Engineering bid on the project. They initially used third-party modeling software; however, the results were unsuccessful. They realized that to win the contract, they needed integrated modeling and digital twin technology.
Kung Sing Engineering selected OpenBuildings Designer and MicroStation to create 3D models and animations that won them the contract. Using the models, they improved project coordination, identifying and resolving design errors, and simulated the construction process, enhancing accuracy and safety of the project. Integrating iTwin technology, they developed an as-built digital twin that can be handed over to operations and maintenance for digital facility management.
