Genesys International Corporation initiated this proof-of-concept project, collecting data across small areas of Mumbai using multiple mapping platforms to drive generation of a countrywide, scalable digital twin and platform that can seamlessly host all the data. Traditionally, 3D geospatial data could only be used on a certain set of desktop applications requiring huge computational power. While they evaluated numerous software applications, they needed a flexible, integrated digital platform to publish high-quality models from data sets captured from various sources.
They selected ContextCapture, MicroStation, and Pointools, enabling seamless integration of aerial and street-view data, all hosted over the Orbit 3DM platform, providing direct access to data relating to tens of thousands of square miles. The open-source digital twin provides strong visualization, 3D measurements, and basic simulations without any storage requirements on the client’s end. Using Bentley’s open and integrated software, they completed the project on time and within budget.
