This project involved surveying both sides of the Fuchun River to create a model for a nearly 300-kilometer river course and establish a digital platform for flood prevention and disaster mitigation. The survey area spanned a total of 330 square-kilometers across four types of terrain, including mountains, plains, urban centers, and suburban areas. Traditional methods were insufficient to capture 3D geographic information of urban buildings and Shanghai Kanrong Information Technology required a flexible 3D reality modeling application to accommodate the diverse operating environments.
They selected ContextCapture to process oblique photography and quickly build a city-scale, 3D GIS-based reality mesh. Using Bentley’s reality modeling technology, they accurately captured 3D data along both sides of the river. The mapping level accuracy and real-time measurements within the model provide technical support for management and decision-making in terms of urban planning, land and resource management, emergency command, and environmental information needed for construction planning and disaster mitigation.
