To ensure infrastructure safety and improve maintenance management methods of large railway bridges along lines A and B, Ko-Mapper performed aerial drone surveys and laser scanning to capture point clouds and images of the bridges. They realized that using some commercial software to transform the high-definition point clouds into 3D models took too long. They needed advanced 3D reality modeling technology to process the captured data.

They selected ContextCapture to process 2,500 aerial images and low-density point clouds into a 3D reality mesh of the structures. Compared to prior time-consuming survey methods, the reality modeling solution minimized on-site visits, reduced resources, and saved costs. Using Bentley’s application, they created a high-quality 3D reality model, allowing accurate visibility into the actual situations required for operational and maintenance decisions. The 3D digitalization will enable continuous management of the structure’s history.
