The Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources sought to increase the existing flow and treatment capacity at the F. Wayne Hill Water Resources treatment facility. Jacobs Engineering was tasked with designing the complex retrofit project and faced challenges coordinating a remote team, compounded by the limited functionality of existing outdated as-built models. They needed a comprehensive reality modeling solution and a connected data environment to acquire accurate and georeferenced 3D plant data and integrate the up-to-date models into the design process.
They selected Bentley applications to generate and share a cloud-based reality mesh of the existing conditions among the globally dispersed team. The combination of ContextCapture and ProjectWise 365 enabled them to consolidate the newly captured information with other models to create an accurate representation of the plant. As a result, they quickly resolved over 20 design issues that would have taken 300 hours and numerous site visits, saving 10% in design costs.
