Spanning 81.74 square kilometers, the CNY 890 million Dongying River Comprehensive Environmental Improvement project will improve hydrodynamic conditions and the urban water circulation system, as well as carry out comprehensive treatment of the river. Shandong Xinhui Construction was tasked with executing the complex construction plan while also dealing with difficult terrain and coordinating various disciplines. Therefore, they needed software that would encourage multidiscipline collaboration.

Shandong Xinhui Construction chose Bentley applications to overcome these challenges by creating a BIM platform. With ProjectWise, they created a connected data environment for collaborative design, reducing file management costs. With ContextCapture, they developed 3D and terrain models. They used OpenBuildings to model the newly built municipal rainwater and sewage pipelines and various other structures, producing 2D section drawings to increase drawing efficiency by 50%. By using the applications, they found and resolved 52 connection problems throughout the river and identified over 150 clashes.
