The Universal Beijing Resort’s landscape water system project stretches 2.8 kilometers, with a designed water depth of 2.5 meters, surface width of 26 meters to 100 meters, water area of 120,000 square meters, and water retention capacity of 370,000 cubic meters. Beijing Institute of Water was tasked with constructing water treatment stations, a purification system, and circulation pipelines to maintain cleanliness. However, they realized that traditional 2D methods were not sufficient when facing a tight schedule, coordination of various disciplines, and complex site conditions.
Considering their options, Beijing Institute of Water used OpenBuildings Designer to conduct 3D modeling of concrete structures, improving productivity and accuracy. The designers used OpenPlant to create a complete 3D layout of the pipeline and equipment while OpenFlows FLOOD helped them with hydrodynamic simulation analysis. By using Bentley applications, they shortened construction by two months and saved 10% of the CNY 430 million investment.
