The old water system in Guwahati only provided service to 30% of the population, and limited water availability to customers to as little as an hour per day. NJS Engineers set out to build a new system that provides constant, clean water to the entire city, though that required building four separate supply schemes. They knew that they needed to carefully unify and manage operations, though the design of each became complex due to undulating terrain.

NJS Engineers realized that they could manage the project by creating a digital twin with Bentley applications. They designed all piping and components, including structural supports, and created a virtual model of the entire water system. They then ran hydraulic simulations to ensure consistent supply to all locations. Optimizing the design and working in a connected data environment saved significant costs.
